I'm Back!

We have had so much going on here at Ivanhoe and I want to say how sorry I am that this blog has not been updated. We have gone through a year of changes here at Ivanhoe and finally the city and IPOIA have dotted the I's and crossed the T's and will have separate responsibilites. This blog will contain information related to the IPOIA with an occasional mention of what is going on with the city just for information purposes. The IPOIA will have the responsibility of the Parks and Lakes so they will remain PRIVATE for the use of property owners and invited guests only. I would suggest that you go by the IPOIA office and pick up an Ivanhoe Land of Lakes Handbook/Rules and Regulations. OFFICE HOURS: Tues/Thurs/Sat from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Phone # 409-283-3653. Guest Passes are required and if you have a question, please contact the IPOIA Office. The new 2011 stickers for vehicles, boats and golf carts (see state regulations pertaining to golf carts) are also available at the IPOIA Office at a cost of $5 ea.

Another big change is that our roads have been turned over to the city of Ivanhoe. This means that ATV's can no longer be used on the roads of Ivanhoe. You can contact the city office at 409-283-3299 for additional information. We still have an IPOIA board and will continue to meet the second Saturday of each month at 10:30 a.m. at the Buck Priest Community Center.

You can definitely see, hear and feel the "birthing pangs" that Ivanhoe is dealing with. You still see lots of ATV traffic on the roads. Sometimes, you hear people yelling to them that there are no ATV's on the roads and that seems to bring them out even more! It'll be interesting to see how that works out.
I eagerly look forward to the road conditions being improved! Better roads will hopefully boost of sales of homes and be gentler on our vehicles. As far as road work goes, are they going to begin with the roads that need work the most, or with the highest taxed areas (most of which are already paved)? Does anyone know?
I called the city hall to ask questions, and was told to call the mayor, their office doesn't have time to answer a bunch of questions. ???????? EXCUSE ME???? That only brings about more questions!!! I need to pay more attention and learn the people's names who are running our new city, so I'll know who to/not to vote for next time. I'm a newer resident, so I am not familiar with any of them.

To Ivanhoe Homeowner in answer to your comment. The best thing you can do is to attend the monthly meeting. There are a lot of great people here in Ivanhoe and many of them volunteer to help make Ivanhoe a great place to live. I am sorry that your questions have not been answered by our city officials but if you come to the monthly meeting there are many folks willing to talk with you. In fact, you can ask for me (Karen Sikora) and I will be happy to introduce you around.
