IPOIA AND CITY RESPONSIBILITY CLARIFICATION

I feel it is important for clarification to be made once again on the responsibilities that the IPOIA have as apposed to the City responsibilities.  When Ivanhoe became a city two years ago the roads and dams were turned over to the city.  They are no longer the responsibility of the IPOIA.  Your maintenance fee's of $6 per lot and the sticker fee's are used for the parks and lakes and insurance costs for the buildings.  If you wish, you may come by the office and pick up a detailed list of where these fee's are spent.  We have heard several comments from residents that money is being spent to asphalt the park walking trail and in front of the community center and the roads are in such bad repair.  Your taxes which are paid to the city are what is used to do road and dam repair. If you have questions concerning the roads and the dams, please contact the city office.

Why should we pay sticker fees if this is not a gated community ? When I see a guard at the guard shack I will buy a sticker for my vehicle. I am tired of seeing contact the city when thir is no city.

I am a new property owner. I purchased 2 lots in August. I knew Ivanhoe had become incorporated. For me it made buying property in it even more desireable as I am tired of living in "redneckville" where I presently live. No rules, people run wild, no noise laws, no roads at all, junk mobile homes, guns going off all the time by my house and stray dogs by the dozens. The maintenance and sticker fees are minimal and personally I would not be opposed to them being raised even higher to get all the garbage out that Ivanhoe is presently dealing with, (i.e.,piled up junk on lots, junked cars and campers that you can tell are rotting to the ground that no one has used in years and stray dogs that seem to be getting worse). I have been out to my property several times and have been approached by dogs -- one dog has threatened us twice. I am very concerned for my 8 yr old son and our small dog. We do not feel safe on our own property and I am hoping that Ivanhoe will have a solution to this "dog" problem very soon. I know that it is not fair to the people of Ivanhoe to have to pay to fix a problem caused by other irresponsible people but if we are going to keep Ivanhoe safe then we need to do whatever it takes even if we have to pay higher maintenance fees, sticker fees or whatever. Just this past weekend we saw someone riding their golf cart down the road with 3 dogs chasing and barking at them. The roads are in need of repair but I think the dog problem and the excessive speeding I have seen within Ivanhoe needs to be dealt with first because people's safety is at risk. I look forward to becoming an active resident in the City of Ivanhoe. I feel it can be cleaned up and brought back to order for the enjoyment of all residents --but its going to take some work.

Question: Concerning Dogs –Now that Ivanhoe has become Incorporated, and the roads & Dams are now maintained by the city, wouldn't hiring a certified dog catcher be their responsibility also? I live in a small city outside of Houston….. And I'm also President of our Home Owners Association for my neighborhood… our city is responsible for keeping stray dogs off the street.

Something has to be done about the packs of stray dogs, if not, then it won’t matter how nice you make the parks, I’m not letting my grandkids go to the parks and play!

I agree with comment # 1,2,3

Ivanhoe will continue to remain trashy until the front office quits selling property to anyone who has fifty cents in their pockets so they can repo and sell over and over again.

I agree with commemt #1 and 3. I own 5 lots in Ivanhoe and have considered moving there and becoming a full time resident. However The stray dogs and speeding are concerns that have prevented me from moving there. My bff does live there and was almost hit by a truck when she was 9 months pregnant. If I do make the desiciion to move there I will not leave the house without a hotshot for protection from the dogs.

I drove across the lakes today and the drains were open on the lakes, we have been waiting a year for the the lakes to fill up !! That is the dunbist thing I have seen to date !! If someone down stream has water rights they can wait for the dams to spill over like everyone else !!

You can't fight the government, and when TCEQ comes and tells you that the valve has to be opened in order for those downstream who have "Senior" rights to the water have requested it, there is not much we can do. You can stop by the office and read a copy of the letter that the City and IPOIA received.

I think Ivanhoe is a awesome place . I dont see as many dogs running loose as i once did. The man grading the road today was doing a good job. Its nice and quite and thats relaxing . I think Ivanhoe is what we make it and if we all get along and work together it will only get better.
