LAKE LEVELS CONTINUE TO DROP

We are experiencing one of the worst droughts in many years. According to an article in the Texas Neighbors magazine, it is the third worst in Texas history. It is very evident to all of us here in Ivanhoe when we see our lakes receding at a very rapid rate. Due to the conditions we are experiencing we closed Galahad Lake to motorized boats (includes trolling motors) on July 1st. It is a necessary precaution to prevent damage to the dam. We have also asked those residents who currently pump water from our lakes to water lawns to please discontinue until we get some rain.

No trolling motors????????? Will paddles be next??? No disrespect meant, but what damage could trolling motors do????? Is this a bit "overkill"? Thanks!

A few people tend to make it tough on everyone. We attempted to allow trolling motors but before we knew it they were dropping the big motors in the lake and creating wakes which were washing out under the dam apron. I know you are probably a responsible person that would observe all the rules but unfortunatly not everyone does. And I promise, we won't take away your paddle.

Ok, guess I understand that, however "Galahad" (the lake that I'm on) is a "No Wake" lake to begin with, right??? Just seems extreme on Galahad, the no trolling motor thing with it being a no wake lake. However, I appreciate what ya'll do, and I'm glad to see a bit more activity on this blog, as it helps keep me informed. Thanks,

James
